My Little Reader

Wes has been reading since Kindergarten but I usually pick out really, simple books.
I don't want him to get frustrated, and then not love reading.
Anyways, Nana bought Wes some books today and Wes couldn't wait to read them.
He did wonderful! It wasn't a short, simple book but I let him try.
I can't believe how much better he can read just since the beginning of school!

It's fun to watch you learn! Your eyes light up every time you figure out something!
Thank you Nana for the books!

Teacher Conferences

I dreaded my first one last year all worried about what the teacher would tell me that Wes needed to work on. I should not have worried about it. I can say that they are now my favorite thing around. It's so nice to hear that all the hard work Todd and I put into instilling values in Wes is paying off. Mrs. Burcham said almost the identical things as Mrs. Smith did in Kindergarten. Both of these teachers don't sugar-coat things which is nice.
I know they mean what they say.
Wes you are well-behaved, SWEET, and smart!!!
You bring a smile to my face all the time!
You are all boy and I know it's not easy for you to use self-control!
We love you even when you do get in trouble or make a bad grade!
We will be there for you no matter what!

Iron Man

Just when I start to forget that Wes is still a little kid, he reminds me. A few days ago he was having such a good time running around playing Iron Man.
Here he is taking off.
(Notice the new John Deere gloves)

Here he is flying fast through the air!

Just another reminder that he's still little.
Some mornings I still wake up hearing Wes talking to his "doggies" that are in his room.
So sweet! He can take his time growing up! It is coming too fast!
I hope you always stay young at heart just like your daddy!!!
I love you, Wes!

The Game Ball

Today was a good day. Todd and Wes let me sleep in, and then we were off to watch baseball.
Wes played catcher, pitcher, and outfield, doing great at them all!
The catcher!

First hit and made it to first. He actually hit this ball right to first but somehow made it before the other little boy could tag him out!

The outfield!

Wes played well at all his positions today, along with making a HOME RUN!!!!
Therefore, as you'll see below, Wes won the honor of getting the game ball!
Daddy told him awhile back he'd give him $10 if he made a home run.
Daddy is $10 poorer today! Daddy also bought him a vanilla shake after the game!

After the game we headed to a new, favorite Mexican restaurant!
We then all got on the couch and watched the UT football game.
Hook'Em Horns!
We then played outside til dinnertime.
The weather was perfect today for lots of outdoor fun.
Today was a good day!

Pumpkin Fun

Wes has been bugging me everyday since the first of October to carve a pumpkin.
I told him during Fall Break! Well it was Fall Break and he did not forget my promise.
Thanks, Daddy for helping out!

Wes has loved having it around!

Monday we headed out to a favorite spot of ours, SweetBerry Farm!

Feeding the goats is always a highlight, along with the hayride we did just before this!

We had been trying to feed the baby goat,
so Wes was glad when it stuck it's little head out to eat.

Stuffing our scarecrow!

Every scarecrow needs a face!

Our finished scarecrow!
Wes is petting his first horse.
He's always been scared to do things like this. I think it was less than a year ago when he got on a tiny pony for the first time. So the next picture was a good surprise for us.

Not only did he pet the horse but he rode it by himself!

After visiting the farm we were able to see some relatives who lived close. It was good to visit and hang out with them for a few hours!
It was a great way to spend the last day of our Fall Break!
